Margaret Smith is trying to tell us that when you are doing the right thing it is not always going to be the popular choice or the easy way out either. So many things you have to choose the right way out and its not guaranteed its going to be a easy way out. Being popular doesn't matter if you cant choose the right thing. She also states that when you do choose the right thing to do when it is unpopular then you become a true and very good character. I strongly agree with this quote because many people do the wrong things when they want to be popular. For example if you would want to become popular and you drink beer to become popular it just messes up your character. But If you say no even if it makes you unpopular then the character you have will be good. Your inner character is what really counts.
