Plastic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibilities: Plastic surgeons are medical professionals, specializing in the correction or restoration of form and function of damaged or malformed areas of the body. Plastic surgery includes many types of reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns.

Salary: $343,848

Education: Students must complete many levels of training and education, beginning with obtaining a bachelor's degree in a pre-medical major, such as biology or chemistry. They then must enter medical school.


Reflection: I would like to be a plastic surgeon because it sounds like an interesting career rebuilding the human body and it pays good as well.

Neurologist
Duties and Responsibilities: They diagnose, treat and manage the patients suffering from central nervous system disorders. Neurologist treats the problems of central, peripheral and autonomous nervous system and effector tissues like blood vessels and muscles.

Salary: $200,000

Education: You have had to complete undergraduate education for four years in science. Premed is preceded by medical school of four years and three to four years of internship as per the specialization chosen. Internship includes one year of training in internal medicine or surgery and three years of training in neurological diagnostic procedures. After fulfilling a neurologist's education requirements, one needs to get a certificate from American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or from the American Board of Medical Specialties to start the practice.


Reflection: I would like to be a Neurologist because it sounds like an interesting career and I would like to help people in that way.

Western Medicine Doctor
Duties and Responsibilities: They train to treat the entire individual rather than the specific illness or condition. They help with a patient's physical, mental and emotional condition in order to determine the proper course of treatment. In addition to providing acupuncture therapy, practitioners help their patients achieve balance and wellness in their everyday lives.

Salary: $72,000

Education: Most Western Medicine Doctors hold a master's degrees or post-baccalaureate certificates from schools accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. They also need 3-4 years of training to become one.

Reflection: I would not like to be a Western Medicine Doctor because I am not interested in that specific type of career in the medical.

Medical Specialist Corps Officer

Duties and Responsibilities: Medical Specialist Corps officers are essential in treating and helping the overall health of Soldiers and their families. The Army Medical Specialist Corps includes four areas of specialty: Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Dietitian, and Physician Assistant.

Salary:  $84,000

Education: Have a degree in a required specialty and, as required for that specialty, have a current board certification, registration and state licensure. Have at least a bachelor’s degree.


Reflection: I would like to be a Medical specialist Corps Officer because it sounds like an interesting career and it pays really well.

Duties and Responsibilities: Manage or coordinate fitness and wellness programs and services. Manage and train staff of wellness specialists, health educators, or fitness instructors.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related area. 1 – 3 years’ experience working in a fitness or wellness environment. CPR/AED certification.


Reflection: I would not like to be a wellness professional because I am not interested in this career.

Duties and Responsibilities: taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays).Removing calculus and plaque from all surfaces of the teeth. Applying preventive materials to the teeth. Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health. Counseling patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health. Making impressions of patients' teeth for study casts.

Education: They typically need an associate’s degree in dental hygiene. All states require dental hygienists to be licensed; requirements vary by state.

Reflection: I would like to be an Oral Care profession because it is something that I am interested in becoming when I am older.

Periodontist
Duties and Responsibility: As a periodontist, you'll treat patients who have gum disease and other issues in the gums and bones surrounding the jaw. Your work may be surgical or non-surgical and might include tasks like placing implants, developing treatment plans, and providing preventative care. You may also perform cosmetic procedures, including tissue grafts or reductions to alter the way a person's smile looks. Part of your job might also be to help patients resolve issues like tooth sensitivity.

Salary: $101,181 - $245,538

Education: You need to complete dental school followed by a residency in periodontics. Admission to dental school usually entails passage of the Dental Admissions Test and at least two years of prior college study, but it's common for students to earn bachelor's degrees before gaining admission. You might earn your degree in an area of science, which may prepare you for the extensive science coursework required in dental school; however, a degree in any major is usually acceptable as long as you meet science prerequisites. Dental school takes four years to complete and includes classroom and laboratory instruction.


Reflection: I would like to be a periodist because it is an interesting job and I would like to work in the dental field.

Dental Technician
Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and improves patients' oral health by fabricating fixed and removable prostheses according to dentist prescriptions. They Replaces partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures (metal and non-metal).Restores natural teeth by fabricating crowns and bridges. Corrects dental irregularities by manufacturing fixed or removable appliances.

Salary: $36,000

Education: Dental laboratory technicians may receive their education and training through a two-year program at a community college, vocational school, technical college, university or dental school. Graduates of these programs receive either an associate degree or a certificate. There also are a few programs that offer a four-year baccalaureate program in dental technology. In most cases, an interested individual needs a high school diploma.


Reflection would like to be a dental technician because it looks like an interesting career and I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field.

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities: They are medical doctors responsible for surgical and medical treatment of the ears, nose, and throat, as well as the related head and neck areas. Specialized skills of otolaryngologists include managing disorders of the upper pharynx and oral cavity, larynx (voice box), ears, nose and nasal passage, and face and neck. Almost all ENT specialists regularly handle cases like nosebleeds, adenoidectomies, infected mastoids, tonsillectomies, and sinusitis.

Salary: $205,000

Education: Ear, nose, and throat specialists must complete at least five years of training in a surgical residency. This comprises a one-year course in general surgery and a four-year course in otolaryngology. Most start their medical education with a Bachelor of Science degree, but those with a Bachelor of Arts degree are also accepted into some medical school programs.

Education: You need to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a field like medical services administration or health care administration. Coursework in a relevant 4-year, bachelor degree program includes courses on health care law and ethics, health care financial management, organization and management in health care, information systems for health care, health care administration, and case management.


Reflection: I would like to be a clinical manager because it sounds like an interesting job and it looks like something ill be good at.

Speech Pathologist
Duties and Responsibility: Speech-language pathologists assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent communication and swallowing disorders in patients. Speech, language, and swallowing disorders result from a variety of causes, such as a stroke, brain injury, hearing loss, developmental delay, a cleft palate, cerebral palsy, or emotional problems.

Salary: $68,000

Education: You need to have graduated high school or get a GED certificate in order to start the training and schooling. Speech-language pathologists typically need at least a master’s degree. They must be licensed in most states but the requirement s change in different states.


Reflection: I would not like to be a speech pathologist because it does not sound very interesting to me.

Sonographer (Ultrasound Technician)

Duties and Responsibilities: They use a scanner to examine the inner organs of the body, tissues and blood flow, allowing for more accurate diagnoses and courses of treatment. You also will be expected to take patient histories, explain the procedure, answer questions, perform the procedure and discuss your findings with the physician, as well as inspect and maintain the imaging machinery.

Salary: $22,000-$63,000

Education: A 2-year associates degree, but you can also earn a bachelor’s degree or, if you are cross-training from another medical field, a certificate.


Reflection: I would like to be an ultrasound technician because it sounds like an interesting career in the medical field.

Reflection: I would not like to be a sanitarian because it is a career that does not interest me.

Respiratory Therapy Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:
People in this field treat those who have respiratory problems that are chronic or developed. They help a variety of age groups ranging from babies with undeveloped lungs and older people who have diseased lungs.
Salary: $55,870 per year
 Education: People in this field need an associate’s degree but employers prefer those who have a bachelor’s degree. Many colleges and universities, vocational–technical institutes, and the Armed Forces offer education and training programs. Many states have a license procedure that includes passing an exam.
Reflection: I would not like to be a Respiratory therapy assistant because i am not interested in this carreer in the medical field.

Recreation Therapist
Duties and Responsibilities: Recreational therapists plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. Recreational therapists use a variety of methods, including arts and crafts, drama, music, and dance, sports, games, and community reintegration field trips to help maintain or improve a patient’s physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Education: You must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. You also need to have a bachelor’s degree to start.   

Reflection: I would not like to be a recreation therapist because it is a job that I am not interested in doing in the future.

Thoracic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibility: Thoracic surgeons treat Lung cancer, severe emphysema, Cancer of the esophagus, Gastro esophageal reflux disease, Hiatal hernias, Swallowing disorders such as achalasia, and excess sweating, usually of the upper extremity called hyperhidrosis. They preform surgeries and treatments as well as prescribe medicine.
Salary: $250,000 -$811,000
Education: You have to get a bachelor's degree in order to get into medical school. The most logical pre-med bachelor degrees include courses in chemistry, mathematics, engineering or psychology. Then one must gain a passing score on the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test). They must have 10 years of medical school. Then pass an exam administered by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Reflection: I would like to be a Thoracic Surgeon because they pay really well and I would like to help out people the most I can.

Radiologic Technologist
Duties and Responsibilities: Radiologic Technologists use x-ray machines, ultrasound machines, magnetic resonance scanners, positron emission scanners, and other machines to help diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. They are also responsible for explaining and getting patients ready for radiological tests and treatment that will be performed.  They place the equipment at the right distance and right angle from the patient to make the right images for the physician. 
Salary: $24,000-$36,000
Education: To become a radiologic technologist you need to complete a two year training program in a hospital or school. A high school diploma or GED certificate is required for entry to these programs.  

Reflection: I would like to be a Radiologic technologist because it sounds like an interesting career that I would like to work in one day.

Duties and Responsibilities: Radiation therapist assists radiologists and oncologists in treating diseases by exposing areas of patient’s bodies to ionizing radiation. They are also responsible for maintaining the radiation therapy equipment and helping to maintain patient records.
Salary: $22,000-$36,000
Education: You either need a one or two year program in order to start training. One year programs are required for hospitals. You also need to have graduated from an approved program in radiologic technology. A high school diploma or a GED is required to enter two year courses.
Reflection: I would not like to be a Radiation Therapist because it is not very interesting for me and I am not really looking

Psychologist

Duties and responsibilities: Psychologists study the behavior and actions of people to understand, explain, and change their behavior patterns.  They also provide counseling and therapy to those with emotional, learning, and behavior problems.  Psychologists work in schools, clinics, hospitals, and private practice.
They also diagnose and treat problems, interview and observe patients, develop mental health programs, and conduct research and teaching.
Salary: $45,000-$65,000
Education: You have to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. You must also complete a two year supervised internship after earning their doctorate and pass oral and written state qualifying exams. They must at least earn a master’s degree.

Reflection: I would not like to be a psychologist because it is a career that I am not interested in.
