Speech Pathologist
Duties and Responsibility: Speech-language
pathologists assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent communication and
swallowing disorders in patients. Speech, language, and swallowing disorders
result from a variety of causes, such as a stroke, brain injury, hearing loss,
developmental delay, a cleft palate, cerebral palsy, or emotional problems.
Salary: $68,000
Education: You need to have graduated high school
or get a GED certificate in order to start the training and schooling. Speech-language
pathologists typically need at least a master’s degree. They must be licensed
in most states but the requirement s change in different states.
Reflection: I would not like to be
a speech pathologist because it does not sound very interesting to me.
