Pharmacy Technician
Duties and Responsibilities: Pharmacy Technicians
work in pharmacies under the direction of pharmacist. They are responsible for
filling in prescriptions according to doctors’ orders for patients. They also
measure out correct amounts of medication from larger containers to
prescription size containers. All of their work is checked by pharmacist before
getting hand out to patients.
There
other duties include checking inventories and ordering supplies, receiving and
checking in supplies, waiting on customers, keeping pharmacy work areas clean,
and helping fill out insurance forms. They work in pharmacy’s and hospitals.
Salary:
$15,000-$25,000
Education: A high School diploma is required to
begin pharmacy technician training. Two year courses leading to certificates
are available at community colleges. Six month programs are offered at
privately operated schools.
Reflection: I would like to be a
pharmacy technician because it sounds like a nice and interesting job.
